While a few decades back the world was much less of a disaster than today there was still a drive to build faster cars with better Acceleration and Max Speed, the concept of building a Turbine directly connected to the rear axle was quickly pursued by many and as a result the Turbonique was developed.

Turbonique Upgrade[]

Light Cars, Heavy Cars, and Long Wheelbase Vehicles can all be equipped with this upgrade. Fitted with a mechanism that allows them to automatically engage or disengage the Turbonique mechanism this device requires the Driver to declare a Shoot action to activate or deactivate the Upgrade, once activated the Device provides its modifiers to the Vehicle until the Driver uses a Shoot Action to deactivate the Upgrade.

Handling: -3

Acceleration: +25mph

Max Speed: +30mph

Shots: 48

Weight: 30

Cost: $15'000

Fuel Cost: $100 per Shot

Each Phase that the Turbonique is running it expends 1 Shot automatically and requires special Monopropellant Fuel and will not function on Gas or other Engine fuels.

As long as a Vehicle is running with an Active Turbonique Upgrade the Acceleration bonus is applied each Phase to the Vehicle even if the Driver does not make an Accelerate Action and as long as the Turbonique is running the Vehicle benefits from the increased Max Speed, if the Turbonique is deactivated while the Vehicle is moving faster than its normal Max Speed the Vehicle will lose 5mph from its current speed each Phase it moves in until the Speed Factor of the Vehicle is within its normal Max or until the Turbonique is reactivated.

Turbonique Units must be fitted to a Vehicles Heavy Weight Passives Mount, requiring 1 Mount to be fitted to the Vehicle.

Wheel Spin[]

When a Vehicle is Stationary and uses the Turbonique it has a serious risk of Wheel Spin, though this can be of some benefit, it can also cause Tire Damage. When used from Stationary the Character rolls a D6 and adds any Handling Modifier their Tires provide only, if they roll a 5 or more they get enough grip and race off the line, if they roll a 2,3, or 4 they suffer Wheelspin for that Phase and must roll again next round, if the Character rolls a natural 1 (the die shows a 1) then the tires have been over stressed and the Vehicles suffers an immediate Wheels Critical Hit.

If the Vehicle experiences Wheel Spin they do not Move but the Smoke from the Tires rises around the vehicle and causes as Smoke Marker to appear in the same Spaces as the Vehicle occupies, this Cloud remains until the Vehicle moves off or stops their Wheel Spin, at which point it is subject to the normal Dissipation rules for Smoke.
